Passport & Identity Cards

The Treaty for the movement of persons between Gibraltar and Spain was implemented on the 15th July 2026, and has therefore changed entry requirements for Gibraltar.

Persons travelling to Gibraltar will need to meet the entry criteria for the Schengen Zone.

A UK visa or ETA (Electronic Travel Authorisation) will not be required for entry into Gibraltar.

On arrival at Joshua Hassan Gibraltar International Airport you will need to pass both Gibraltar and Schengen immigration controls.

British nationals who are not resident in Gibraltar are required to:

Hold a passport which has:

  • A date of issue which is less than 10 years on the arrival date in Gibraltar.
  • An expiry date at least 3 months after the date which you plan to leave.

You may be requested to produce a return flight ticket, travel insurance, proof of sufficient funds, hotel booking.

Third country nationals who do not hold a residence card in either Gibraltar or the EU

Persons should check if they require a visa for entry into the Schengen area
